Mechanical Estimator

Rochester Recruitment is seeking an experienced Mechanical Estimator to join a highly successful Air Conditioning & Mechanical contractor based in Rochester, Kent. As as Mechanical Estimator, you will be responsible for managing the whole tender process from initial receipt of the tender pack to issuing a full and detailed quotation to the client.


With a broad range of projects, ranging from 100k to 3 million, you will be required to prepare quotations for multiple services including Air Conditioning, Ventilation, Plumbing, Insulation, Controls & Commissioning. With a client base extending  across various sectors such as Healthcare, Commercial, Education, Government & Residential, where they specialise in CAT A & B works, you will be a vital part of a dynamic team that has seen great success and growth.

Responsibilities


  • Reviewing document tenders and raising any RFI's with the client
  • Researching the cost of items such as materials, transport, labour and equipment
  • Retrieving costs from suppliers and contractors
  • Take-off as required conforming to standard estimating conventions
  • The use of estimating software's
  • Preparing tenders for internal decisions
  • Timely submission of tenders
  • Attendance in handover of projects to the operation/project teams


The key responsibilities of this role include:


  • Carefully reviewing tender documents and promptly addressing any queries or requests for information (RFIs) with the client.
  • Conducting in-depth research to ascertain the costs associated with materials, transportation, labour, and equipment.
  • Collaborating with suppliers and contractors to obtain accurate cost estimates.
  • Executing take-offs as needed, adhering to standard estimating practices.
  • Utilising specialised estimating software to streamline the estimation process.
  • Preparing tenders for internal evaluation and decision-making.
  • Ensuring the timely submission of tenders to meet project deadlines.
  • Participating in the seamless handover of projects to our operation and project teams.


Experience and Qualifications


  • Proven experience in a similar position with an M&E contractor
  • Proven ability to estimate costs and timescales accurately in order to meet deadlines
  • A thorough understanding of estimating software's such as Ensign/Trimble MEP etc.
